A Workout Away From The Box

Having Some Fun Post Workout
Covered in Sand
As most of the coaches are away at a competition it was decided to train at the beach this morning.  It was only a fairly small group which made it nice and intimate.

Michelle, our coach, warmed us up with a jog and then we went into sprints (a bit like lifesaving where we had to lie on stomach down on the beach and then race to a marker), commando crawls, wheelbarrows and running with resistance from a partner.  That was the warmup!!

We then had a fun 7 min team WOD of 'rob the nest' ... much like what we played as kids.  We each grabbed an item and had to steal from the other teams 'nest'.  It was the longest 7 minutes of my life, but lots of fun in the process.  Sometimes we forget to have fun during a workout.

The next WOD consisted of:

50 push ups
50 squats
50 burpees
50 sit ups
200 walking lunges

This was designed as a partner WOD but most of us decided to go alone for the 'fun' of it.  It was a great workout with the sand both making it harder and easier depending on the movement.  The funniest part was doing burpees because everytime I clapped overhead I was covered with even more sand ... I'm still trying to get it out of my hair.

It was a really tough workout and my legs are fried from all that sand running but it was loads of fun too!
