Getting Blown Away

Over the last couple of days we have been on cyclone watch. To be honest I think we have had windier days during this summer but its not a good idea to get complacent. We were talking last night about a cyclone that hit Gladstone in, I think, 1949 that went down the coast, did a u-turn and then hit Gladdie. It was called the 'devil's cyclone' as it flattened all the churches but all the pubs were left standing. Yesterday was spent tidying up the yard and tying down what couldn't be put away. As we live in a new suburb we were pretty annoyed that no builders cleaned up their sites, I'm sure there would be some good missiles at a housing site. Anyway, it hasn't amounted to much yet and it looks as though it will just travel parallel to the coast and fizzle out (here's hoping).

Hope your all okay over there Michelle. We live in Karratha in WA where we expereince similar weather patterns. No you can't be complacent - you just have to hope for the best and do your best to tie everything down. x

I've been thinking of you - it's grey and rainy down here but it's not blowing a gale. We're in a new area too so I know what you mean about builder missiles!

Yeah, we have the same problems - builders are pigs! I'm sick of collecting crap out of my yard...

Glad things are OK so far. Fingers crossed for you.
