Yesterday we went down to Bundy to participate in the Color Vibe. A colour run has been on my to-do list for some time because it looks like so much fun so as soon as I saw one in the region I signed myself and my girls up.
The whole thing was a blast ... lots of upbeat music and dancing. As a warm up we did some Zumba and at about the second song in I realised that I couldn't do that as my form of fitness ... it's just not my cup of tea but it was still fun.
We got covered in colour as well as water (which was nice as it was so hot on the weekend). At one point they had run out of colour at one of the stations so T and I rolled on the ground to get covered.
Even though it was only 5 km, the girls and I were exhausted by the end and were happy to go home after the colour throw at the finish line. All I wanted was a shower!
I would definitely do it again because it was such fun.

A Day At The Races
For some bizarre reason I am the social organiser at work, I don't understand how I got roped into it but I think it was a case of I wasn't around when that decision was made. Anyway, this year's Christmas party we decided to go to the local races. One of the school in town was doing a fundraiser so I booked a marquee for the day. We had an absolute blast having a couple of drinkies, nibblies and betting (and losing) on the nags. It is nice to get dressed up for a change but was grateful to take my shoes off at the end of the day. I was fortunate that my usual hair appointment was yesterday so my fabulous hairdresser gave me a bit of un up-do for the day ... she did a fantastic job considering the lack of time she had to do it. I thought I had plenty of time but I had taken Missy T along with me for a cut as well and unfortunately we found some crawlies and spent ages treating her hair (lice have been really bad at school at the moment). Here are a couple of pics from the day.

Day at the Races

This weekend was full of social engagements. Friday night Mal had his 20 year service dinner and then Saturday I went to the races with some girlfriends. The theme for this year was vintage so I tried to channel the '50s with my outfit. We had a great day that led into the evening and my feet are still suffering from dancing up a storm. I had to postpone my SSS and attempted to do it yesterday afternoon after a much needed nanna nap. Talk about epic fail. Kids, do not try to attempt burpees, step ups etc when a little bit dusty from a day drinking champas. 10 minutes in and I had to give up ... not pretty. Anyways, I'll have another crack at it this weekend.

Done For Another Year
I'm kind of glad my scales are on the blink as I am a little afraid to weigh myself after the weekend I just had ... but it was fun. On Saturday, I went to an afternoon tea as a fundraiser for a local kindy. It was nice to get all dressed up and have a day with some girlfriends.
Sunday was the concert which, of course, was lovely. They are so beautiful on stage and their faces show so much joy when performing. Missy T got an award for the highest theory mark for the school which I thought was pretty impressive. So that's dancing done for another year. I'm going to have to think of ways to keep the girls active over the holidays - particularly Moo as she needs to be pushed to exercise and also has a tendency to gain weight quite easily. I'm sure we can visit the park heaps and Mal might take them down to the nets for some cricket practice. Here are some pics from the weekend but please excuse the hair, the photos were taken prior to hair and makeup.

8 Weeks To Go
I have been looking at previous posts from my last comp, at 8 weeks out I am around the same weight as last time. My weight has been bouncing around the last week but I think that is due to playing around with my carbs as well as not drinking enough water. Yet another thing I am good with all week and once the weekend comes around I slacken off.
I had a lovely weekend. Missy T had an 8 am game of soccer which meant no sleep in for me as I still had to get up to do my Super Saturday Sesh which was The Pain Cave DVD and then a further 30 minutes on the bike. Saturday afternoon I went with a girlfriend to see 'Eclipse' in the Gold Room and then Saturday night the kids and I watched Karate Kid while Mal went out. On Sunday, I got all my jobs done and then we went out to the car wash to use the hydrobath for Mossy and also washed the car. Then it was to the park to take Moss for a walk while Moo walked with me and Missy T rode her scooter. Mal was playing 20/20 cricket so the girls and I decided to grab some icecreams and watch cricket for a bit. Mal had finished playing but it was lovely sitting there with him soaking up some rays. The girls had a blast with the other kids that were there so when I started getting cold and wanted to go home I left them there with their Dad and I got some precious alone time watching the new series of True Blood. It was a great weekend :o)

Back Again
I'm back to reality after an awesome weekend at the Gold Coast. My niece had her birthday celebration at Dracula's which was absolutely fantastic. Dracula's has always been something that I would drive past when down at the Coast and wonder what it would be like but never actually go. It was an amazing show and we had a fabulous night - waaaaaay too many cocktails though.
Here I am after another weekend of too much grog and bad food saying it's time to put my head down and start getting serious about this comp prep/challenge. Mal asked me yesterday why I was doing this comp, if I'm in it to win it. I answered that while winning isn't everything, I aim to place as if I aimed lower I wouldn't do the work I need to do to get to the stage but I wonder if I'm sabotaging myself. Last prep, nothing was standing in my way and there was no way I would be tempted by Mal or the kids eating chips or other treats. Weekends continue to be my Achille's heel and I am regularly snacking on junk. Is it because I worked my arse off last time, only to be totally ignored once on stage? Maybe there is something deep down inside that wonders what is the point, that I will give them a reason to overlook me. All I know is that I have to get my head in the game sooner rather than later.

Off Again
We are heading away again this weekend, this time we are going to the Gold Coast to celebrate my niece's 21st birthday. I have noted how different this weekend will be compared to last weekend. We are going from having to shower in our thongs in the communal showers, having to prepare and eat all our meals outside and sitting around a campfire singing along to Mal's guitar to this weekend staying at Jupiter's, dining out at every meal and sleeping in a king size bed. It seems like polar opposites but both are so much fun.

Had My Fun
... now it is time to get serious! I had a fantastic weekend which is just what I needed, even Hubs commented on how little I allow myself totally relax and just have fun. Maybe it was helped along by a couple of red wines or maybe I'm just more comfortable when I'm dagging around in my trackie dacks that I let my walls down. Either way, I had a blast but now it is time to really focus on this comp prep.

Week 4 Summary
I've had a great week this week. I seem to have lost that 'comparing myself to others' thing I had going on which is a relief. I think PMT had a lot to do with that. With that came the whoosh fairy and I am sub 52.5 kg again. My pants are fitting a lot nicer and I'm back to loving my training again, to me that is so much more important as last year I seemed to lose my passion for anything and I felt like was just going through the motions with life in general. It's nice to be back.
I said to Mal this week that I would like to make Sunday a Family Fun Day. We seem to get so busy that on Sunday we spend the day lazing around the house and I would dearly love to get the girls out of from in front of the TV for a little bit whether it be a trip to the beach or a bike ride. Today we had the cricket junior break up and Mal, as a committee member and captain of the senior A-grade side, wanted to go along. We had a lovely morning at the park and the girls spent the morning climbing trees with their friends - exactly how I like to spend Sunday morning.
